Box Score ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's soccer team opened the CCIW portion of its schedule with a 3-0 loss to North Central College at Berens Park.

Elmhurst dropped to 7-5 overall (0-1 CCIW) with the loss while North Central improved to 8-3 (1-1 CCIW). The win by the Cardinals was the team's first win over after entering the game 0-8 all-time against the Bluejays.

North Central got on the scoreboard quickly in the opening half when Jeff Jones unleashed a 45-yard strike into the back of the net.

A red card on Elmhurst late in the opening half forced the Bluejays to play a man down for the remainder of the contest.

The Cardinals' T.J. Simmons knocked home a Joey Faleni pass in the 55th minute to put North Central on top 2-0. Jake Muszcynski scored on a penalty kick in the 81st minute to account for the game's final goal.

North Central outshot Elmhurst 14-3 in the contest, but the Bluejays had a 6-0 edge in corner kicks.

John Reglin made the start in goal for Elmhurst and took the loss, allowing one goal while making one save. Jordan Collier finished the game's final 55 minutes, surrendering two goals while tallying three saves. John McWard earned the shutout in net for the Cardinals by stopping three shots.

Elmhurst hosts Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday (October 6).
