Box Score 2 ELMHURST, Ill. - The 10th-ranked Elmhurst volleyball team won its own invitational by finishing the tournament with a 4-0 record after posting wins against Vassar College and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
After toppling a pair of top-20 opponents on the tournament's first day, Elmhurst was the onl team to finish the tournament with an unbeaten 4-0 record. The Bluejays upped their overall record to 25-7 with the wins.
ELMHURST 3, VASSAR 0 - Elmhurst opened the second day of the tournament with a 25-11, 25-23, 25-10 win over Vassar College.
Megan Reynolds hit .600 with nine kills and no errors in 15 attempts while adding eight blocks to lead the Bluejays in the win. Antonéya Veasy Smith added eight kills while
Marci Novak finished with seven.
Hannah Lessen totaled 15 digs while
Dana Loncar finished with 11 digs and three aces.
Erin Thill dished out 22 assists and served up three aces for the Bluejays.
ELMHURST 3, UW-EAU CLAIRE 0 - Elmhurst wrapped up the tournament with a 25-14, 25-21, 25-20 victory over Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
Reynolds pounded down 10 kills and registered four blocks for Elmhurst.
Kaitlyn Wilks chipped in with nine kills and three blocks while Veasy Smith added nine kills and a pair of blocks.
Sam Szarmach finished with four kills and 15 digs while Lessen totaled a team-leading 22 digs. Thill tallied 22 assists while
Katie Rueffer totaled 18 assists, six kills, and three blocks.
Szarmach and
Hannah Lessen were both named to the all-tournament team for their play.
After clinching at least a share of the CCIW Championship last week, the Bluejays can win the conference title outright and secure the top seed for the upcoming conference tournament when they host North Central College on Tuesday (October 24). North Central can clinch a share of the CCIW title and earn the top seed for the conference tournament with a win over Elmhurst.
