CHICAGO, Ill. - The Elmhurst College volleyball team upped its record to 13-3 overall by winning its final two matches at the University of Chicago Gargoyle Classic.
The Bluejays finished the tournament with a perfect 4-0 record after upending Wesleyan University (25-13, 25-22, 25-12) and 24th-ranked Wartburg College (25-18, 25-21, 21-25, 25-16).
ELMHURST 3, WESLEYAN 0 - The Bluejays won their third straight contest by stopping Wesleyan in three sets.
Megan Reynolds led the Bluejays with 10 kills and a block while
Sam Szarmach added eight kills and four digs.
Hannah Lessen finished with six kills and a team-leading 15 digs.
Erin Thill led the Bluejays in assists (30) and aces (two).
ELMHURST 3, WARTBURG 1 - Elmhurst toppled 24th-ranked Wartburg in four sets to win their fourth straight match. Lessen pounded down 11 kills and totaled nine digs to pace the Bluejays in the win.
Antonéya Veasy Smith added eight kills while Reynolds and
Kaitlyn Wilks chipped in with six kills apiece. Reynolds added four blocks while Wilks totaled a team-leading seven blocks.
Reynolds was named to the all-tournament team for her play.
Elmhurst resumes CCIW play on Tuesday (September 27) by hosting Carthage College.
