OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Elmhurst College volleyball team finished play this weekend at the UW-Oshkosh Volleyball Invitational with a 3-1 record.
The Bluejays opened play on Friday with a pair of sweeps, downing Lakeland 25-18, 25-22, and 25-15 before stopping Martin Luther 25-15, 25-20, and 25-8.
Megan Reynolds recorded nine kills against Lakeland to lead the Bluejays and added eight in the win over Martin Luther.
Kaitlyn Wilks notched six kills in the victory over Lakeland with
Perrie Morgan amassing 14 digs and
Erin Thill 23 assists. Morgan collected 14 more digs in the win over Martin Luther. Antoneya Veasy Smith contributed 13 kills and two digs in the sweep of Martin Luther, which was the seventh consecutive victory for the Bluejays.
Elmhurst extended the streak to eight consecutive wins with a four-set decision over UW-Eau Claire to open Saturday, 25-14, 25-21, 14-25, and 25-15. Reynolds pounded out 15 kills while also tallying six blocks.
Sam Szarmach posted an all aound effort with 11 kills, seven digs, three blocks, and two aces. Morgan paced the defense with 25 digs and Thill served up 41 assists.
The win streak came to a halt at the hands of host UW-Oshkosh in the final match of the weekend as Oshkosh reversed last week's four-set loss to Elmhurst with a tight four set win, 26-24, 25-23, 14-25, and 25-21. Reynolds again led the way with 13 kills and eight blocks. Szarmach hammered out 11. Morgan posted 20 digs with
Hannah Lessen adding 16. Thill recorded 37 assists in addition to six digs.
The Bluejays are now 9-2 on the season and will host Millikin on Tuesday evening in a 7:00 p.m. contest that can be seen live on Bluejaytv.com.
