ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's soccer team upped its record to 2-1 on the season by shutting out Monmouth College at Berens Park.

Elmhurst dominated the game from start to finish, outshooting Monmouth 35-6 in the game. Despite a 10-2 shots advantage and 13 corner kicks in the opening half, the Bluejays led just 1-0 at halftime. Jon Brehm sent a free kick into the box that David Griggs headed to Ken Miller. Miller headed the ball into the upper left corner of the net to put Elmhurst up 1-0. 

The Bluejays outshot Monmouth (0-3) 25-4 in the second half, scoring five times. Miller netted his second goal of the game just 52 seconds into the half when he scored off a feed from Brian Chrencik.
Matt Sterner made it 3-0 when he found the back of the net off of a Luke Froehlich cross in the 64th minute. 

Brehm gave Elmhurst a four-goal cushion in the 70th minute when he bent a direct kick over the wall of defenders and into the upper left corner of the net.

John Stewartadded a goal off of an Austin Haas assist in the 76th minute and Haas recorded the final Elmhurst tally in the 88th minute when he scored off of a Kyle Smith assist.

Sebastian Domczewski earned the win in net for the Bluejays, playing 82 minutes and recording three saves. Ryan Miller played the final eight minutes in net for Elmhurst. 

The Bluejays travel to the Elizabethtown College tournament on September 10-11.
