PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The Elmhurst College volleyball team wrapped up play at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Tournament with a 3-1 record by splitting a pair of matches on the tournament's second day.
The Bluejays, who moved to 13-9 overall with the split, began the day with a 25-12, 22-25, 25-18, 17-25, 15-13 win over Wartburg College. Elmhurst was downed by UW-Platteville 25-16, 21-25, 25-20, 26-24 in the Bluejays' final match of the tournament.
ELMHURST 3, WARTBURG 2 - Elmhurst battled back-and-forth with Wartburg and managed to tip the Knight in five sets.
Melissa Miehlke led Elmhurst with 14 kills while
Megan Reynolds totaled 13 kills and six blocks for the Bluejays.
Antonéya Veasy Smith and
Kaitlyn Wilks totaled six kills apiece for Elmhurst.
Katie Rueffer tallied 26 assists while
Erin Thill finished with 20.
Hannah Lessen totaled a team-leading 24 digs and
Perrie Morgan added 23 digs.
UW-PLATTEVILLE 3, ELMHURST 1 - Elmhurst had its three-game winning streak snapped with a four-set loss to the Pioneers. Miehlke totaled a team-leading 12 kills in the loss. Lessen and Veasy Smith finished with seven kills apiece. Reuffer added 25 assists while Morgan totaled nine digs. Veasy Smith added five blocks while Reynolds recorded six blocks. Veasy Smith was named to the all-tournament team for her play over the two-day tournament.
Elmhurst resumes CCIW play by hosting Augustana College on Tuesday, October 12.
