ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's soccer team dropped its third straight contest, falling to Lake Forest College 2-1 at Berens Park.
Lake Forest (7-4) broke a scoreless tie less than three minutes into the second half when Chris Haught-Thompson bent a corner kick into the back of the net. The Foresters' Jordan Hartman made it 2-0 in the 73rd minute when he scored on a blast from the top of the box.
Elmhurst (6-7) sliced the lead in half in the 79th minute when
Keith Thurman scored off of assists from
Austin Haas and
Jon Brehm.
The Bluejays tried fast and furiously to get the equalizer in the game's final 12 minutes, but Elmhurst was unable to find the back of the net.
Lake Forest goal keeper Tom Biesiada recorded 10 saves in net to earn the win.
Ryan Miller made the start in goal and took the loss for the Bluejays. He allowed two goals and stopped one shot in 78 minutes.
Sebastian Domczewski finished the game's final 12 minutes and recorded one save.
Elmhurst hosts North Central College at Berens Park on Wednesday, October 13.
