Elmhurst Volleyball Team Splits Pair at Own Invite

ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College volleyball team moved to 20-10 on the season by splitting a pair of matches at the Elmhurst Invitational. The Bluejays fell to 25th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Platteville in three sets but bounced back to defeat Cornell College 3-0.

Elmhurst had its six-match winning streak snapped in a 25-12, 25-22, 25-16 loss to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville

Megan Reynolds and Hannah Lessen each recorded four kills to lead the Bluejays in the loss. Reynolds added four blocks while Lessen totaled a team-leading 11 digs. Katie Rueffer finished with 12 assists in the loss. 

ELMHURST 3, CORNELL 0 - The Bluejays bounced back from their loss to topple Cornell 25-20, 25-14, 25-16. 

Lessen and Antonéya Veasy Smith tallied seven kills apiece to lead the Bluejays in the win. Melissa Miehlke finished with six kills for Elmhurst while Reynolds added five kills and six blocks. Kaitlyn Wilks tallied five kills and three blocks. Perrie Morgan totaled a team-leading 32 digs while Rueffer finished with 19 assists. 

Reynolds and Wilks were both named to the all-tournament team for their play over the two-game tournament.

Elmhurst travels to North Park University on Tuesday, October 26.
