ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's basketball team hammered Fontbonne University 91-67 to improve to 4-2 on the season.

The Bluejays led from start to finish, never trailing in the contest. Elmhurst raced out to a 10-0 lead to start the game before building a 16-point first-half advantage. The Bluejays led 48-35 at the break.

Elmhurst pulled away in the second half, opening up a commanding 33-point (85-52) lead with 6:20 remaining. The Bluejays were able to cruise to the 24-point victory.

Elmhurst shot 58.2 percent from the floor, including 50.0 percent (8-of-16) from beyond the arc. Fontbonne finished the game shooting 48.0 percent (24-of-50), including 6-of-20 (30.0 percent) from downtown.

The Bluejays finished with a 34-24 edge on the glass. 

Dustin Bainter poured in 19 points to pace the Bluejays in the victory. Bainter shot 7-of-12 from the floor. Chris Childs added 17 points while shooting a perfect 7-of-7 from the field. Mike McCurdy came off the bench to score 12 points while hitting 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. Matt Bernier added nine points while Zack Boyd and Aaron Schroeder scored eight points apiece. Boyd pulled down eight boards while Schroeder collected seven.

Joshua Branch led Fontbonne with 27 points on 8-of-13 shooting. Branch connect on five 3-point attempts. Chris Forrest added 19 points while Freddie Fleming totaled 11 points and seven rebounds.

Elmhurst travels to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Saturday, December 12.
