LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Jon Brehm and Matt Sterner scored two goals apiece to guide the Elmhurst College men's soccer team to a 4-0 shutout win over Lake Forest College.
Elmhurst improved to 11-3-2 with the road victory while Lake Forest slipped to 5-8-1.
The Bluejays wasted little time jumping on the scoreboard as Brehm tallied an unassisted goal just 2:41 into the match. Sterner made it 2-0 in favor of the Bluejays when he scored off a Keith Thurman assist in the 23rd minute.
Elmhurst put the game out of reach with a pair of goals 28 seconds apart in the second half. Brehm netted his second goal of the game by scoring on a penalty kick at 60:11. Less than 30 seconds later, Sterner struck for his second goal of the game, scoring off a feed from Brandon Violette.
Sebastian Domczewski recorded his fifth shutout of the season in goal by turning away all four shots he faced.
Elmhurst is set for a showdown with Wheaton College later this week. The Bluejays can clinch their first-ever CCIW Championship and home-field advantage in the CCIW Tournament with a win or a tie against the Thunder. Elmhurst hosts Wheaton at Berens Park on Friday, October 23, at 7:00 p.m.
