Men's Soccer Team Topples Capital in OT

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Elmhurst College men's soccer team snapped a two-game skid with a 3-2 double overtime win at Capital University.

Jake Pahr (Cary/Cary-Grove) broke a 2-2 tie in the 105th minute when he bent a shot inside the far post from 12 yards out to give Elmhurst the win.

Elmhurst (8-2-0) rallied from a goal down on two occasions. Capitol got on the scoreboard in the sixth minute with a goal from Joey Snyder. Elmhurst evened the score in the 22nd minute when Brian McMahon (St. Charles/St. Francis) raced past the Capital defense and collected a long ball from Jacob Misel (Ankeny, Iowa/H.S.). McMahon then fired a shot into the net past Capital goalie John Snyder who had come out of the box to challenge the shot.

Josh Thaboune put Capital back in front in the 74th minute when he scored off an assist from Steven McCarthy.

Carlos Flores (Tegucigalpa, Honduras/Aurora-Ohio) evened the game at 2-2 in the 88th minute. Flores flicked the ball over Snyder's head from 12 yards out.

After a scoreless first overtime, Pahr hit the game-winner in the 105th minute.

Sebastian Domczewski (Des Plaines/St. Viator) recorded eight saves in goal to earn the win for the Bluejays.

Elmhurst opens CCIW play by hosting North Central College on Wednesday, October 1.
