ELMHURST, Ill. - Jake Pahr (Cary/Cary-Grove) scored three goals and netted an assist while leading the 22nd-ranked Elmhurst College men's soccer team to a 12-0 shutout win over Concordia University-Chicago.
Elmhurst improved to 7-0-0 with the win while Concordia slipped to 0-7-0.
The Bluejays dominated the game from start to finish, outshooting Concordia 50-1. Elmhurst has scored 12 goals in each of its last two contests, setting a school-record for most goals in a game.
Pahr started the scoring in the third minute, scoring off a feed from Matt Sterner (Naperville/Central). Sterner made it 2-0 in the 14th minute when he scored off an assist from Matt McKinniss (Clayton, Ohio/Northmont). Jon Brehm (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) added a goad in the 21st minute, scoring off a feed from Pahr. Pahr netted his second goal of the game less than a minute later when he connected off a Jacob Misel (Ankeny, Iowa/H.S.) pass. Sterner scored his second goal of the game in the 24th minute to put Elmhurst up 5-0. Brian McMahon (St. Charles/St. Francis) added an assist on Sterner's second goal. The Bluejays led 5-0 at halftime.
Elmhurst continued to pull away in the second half, adding seven additional goals. Pahr completed the hat trick with his third goal in the 48th minute. The goal came off a penalty kick.
Brian Chrencik (Darien/Downers Grove South) netted back-to-back goals with Brehm picking up an assist on the first goal, and Misel adding an assist on Chrencik's second goal, to give Elmhurst a 8-0 advantage.
Victor Gomez (Chicago/Mt. Carmel), Keith Thurman (Villa Park/Willowbrook), Joe Altal (Waterford, Wis./Waterford Union) and Carlos Flores (Tegucigalpa, Honduras/Aurora-Ohio) all tacked on goals in the final minutes. Misel added his third assist of the game on Gomez's goal in the 62nd minute. Flores had an assist on Thurman's goal in the 68th minute, and Evan Warner (Waukee, Iowa/H.S.) tallied an assist on Altal's goal in the 89th minute.
Sebastian Domczewski (Des Plaines/St. Viator) and Daren Scarberry (Grove City, Ohio/H.S.) combined for the shutout win in goal.
