St. Mary's Box Score

ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College volleyball team finished its own invitational with a 2-2 overall record after dropping a pair of contests on the tournament's second day. The Bluejays fell to Hope College 3-1 in the morning and closed out the tournament with a 3-1 loss to St. Mary's University (Minn.).

HOPE 3, ELMHURST 1 - Elmhurst slipped to 2-1 on the season after falling to 23rd-ranked Hope College 20-25, 16-25, 25-22, 25-27.  After struggling in the first two sets, the Bluejays grabbed set three and were one point away from sending the match to a fifth set, but Hope fought off the set point and put the match away with a 27-25 win in the fourth set.

Lisa Burger (Addison/Addison Trail) led the Bluejays with 10 kills and 15 digs. Morgan Jones (Seymour, Ind./H.S.) added seven kills and three blocks while Alison Friedrich (Wadsworth/Zion-Benton) recorded six kills. Emily Hilliker (Franklin Grove/Ashton Franklin Center) totaled 21 assists and eight digs, while Callie Schriner (Lanark/Eastland) added 14 digs in the loss. Katie Buechel (Fond du Lac, Wis./H.S.) posted a team-high 17 digs while Caitlin O'Hara (Lemont/H.S.) recorded a team-high six blocks.

ST. MARY'S 3, ELMHURST 1 - Elmhurst fell to 2-2 on the season after suffering a 13-25, 25-20, 24-26, 24-26 loss to St. Mary's University (Minn.) Friedrich and Schriner both pounded down 10 kills apiece to pace the Bluejays in the loss. Schriner added 11 digs while Buechel recorded a team-high 19 digs in the loss. Hilliker totaled 21 assists and six kills in the loss.

Schriner was named to the all-tournament team for her play over the duration of the tournament.

Elmhurst travels to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Tournament on September 12-13.
