SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - The Elmhurst College women's basketball team ran its record to 4-2 by defeating Lakeland College 71-64.

Elmhurst led from start to finish, but had to hold off a late charge from Lakeland to secure the victory.

The Bluejays used an 8-0 run near the end of the first half to grab a 35-23 lead at halftime. The Bluejays opened up a 13-point second half advantage, before Lakeland managed to trim the lead down to five points with five minutes to play. The Bluejays pushed their lead back up to nine points with 2:30 to go, before back-to-back buckets by Lakeland trimmed the Elmhurst advantage back down to just five points. The Bluejays traded buckets with Lakeland over the final 1:30 to come away with the 71-64 road win.

Elmhurst shot 47.8 percent (33-of-69) from the floor, but struggled from long range, hitting only 1-of-10 3-point attempts. Lakeland finished the game shooting 41.0 percent (25-of-61) from the floor and 23.5 percent (4-of-17) from beyond the arc.

Lyndsie Long paced the Bluejays with a team-high 17 points on 7-of-14 shooting. She added seven rebounds and three assists in the win. Kelsey Monroe added 12 points and six rebounds while Brittany Bobruk and Anna Randazzo finished with 10 points apiece. Bobruk pulled down nine rebounds in the victory.

Lakeland was led by Katie Kilton's 22 points. Chelsea Coenan added 17 points and eight rebounds.

Elmhurst hosts the University of Chicago on Saturday, December 6.
