Men's Soccer Tallies 11th Win of the Season

Box Score

ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's soccer team won a 2-1 match over UW-Platteville on Wednesday to capture its 11th victory of the season in a non-conference showdown at Langhorst Field.

The Bluejays raced to a 2-0 lead with a pair of first half goals in the first 30 minutes. Cory Proffer netted an unassisted tally in the 13th minute to put Elmhurst on the board. It was his first finder of the season. Matt Sterner found the back of the net for the ninth time on a feed from Brian McMahon in the 28th minute with what proved to be the winning goal.

UW-Platteville (8-2-1) tallied its lone marker early in the second half when Tyrone Creech put one past Elmhurst netminder Sebastian Domczewski. The Pioneers kept a lot of pressure on the Bluejays in the second half but failed to record the equalizer.

Each team totaled 12 shots. Domczewski stopped four shots in the contest. Jake Pahr and Matt Sterner each finished with three shots to lead the Elmhurst attack in a tense affair.

The Bluejays (11-2) return to CCIW play on Saturday night when they travel to Illinois Wesleyan at 7:00pm.
