WHEATON, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's soccer team fell to 12-5 overall following a 2-1 loss at Wheaton College.
Wheaton (11-3-2) took advantage of a red card on Elmhurst in the 71st minute to score a pair of goals over the game's final 19 minutes and earn the 2-1 win.
Elmhurst (2-3-0 CCIW) jumped on the scoreboard in the 20th minute when Jon Brehm blasted home a goal from the top of the box.
Despite being outshot 10-2 in the first half, the Bluejays carried a 1-0 lead into the second half. A red card on Brandon Violette in the 71st minute left the Bluejays a man down for the remainder of the game.
Wheaton (3-0-1 CCIW) took advantage immediately, as Matt Swartz evened the game at 1-1 with a goal in the 76th minute. Swartz put the Thunder on top for good in the 87th minute when he scored off assists from Stephen Mesko and Jonathan Liechty.
Wheaton outshot Elmhurst 26-5 in the contest.
Sebastian Domczewski recorded 10 saves in goal for the Bluejays.
