ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's soccer team began CCIW play by defeating North Central College 3-1. Elmhurst moved to 9-2 overall while North Central slipped to 7-3 overall (0-2 CCIW).

Jake Pahr (Cary/Cary-Grove) put Elmhurst on the scoreboard in the 23rd minute. Pahr collected a crossing pass from Jacob Misel (Ankeny, Iowa/H.S.) and netted a goal right in front of the net.

Jon Brehm (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) gave Elmhurst a 2-0 lead when he scored off a penalty kick in the 57th minute. Brehm was taken down inside the box setting up the penalty kick.

North Central sliced the lead in half when Nico Galto collected the rebound of his own shot and netted a goal in the 62nd minute.

Brehm put the game away in the 89th minute when he dribbled past a pair of Cardinal defenders and blasted home a goal from 20 yards out.

Sebastian Domczewski (Des Plaines/St. Viator) recorded six saves to earn the win in goal for the Bluejays.

Elmhurst hosts Millikin University on Sunday, October 5.
