Sophia Lugo is back for her second season with the Elmhurst women’s lacrosse coaching staff. She previously served as the Assistant Coach for the U19 Women's Puerto Rican National team at the 2019 World Lacrosse World Championships. Her team went 8-0 in their international debut.
Lugo has been an assistant varsity coach at Evanston Township high school since 2014 and was named Co-Head Coach for the upcoming 2020 season. Prior to ETHS Lugo coached at her alma mater, Lane Tech High School and other local elite level travel programs.
As a lead clinician with US Lacrosse and the Sankofa Clinic Series, Lugo has continued to spread her passion for growing the game in non-traditional lacrosse areas around the country while also promoting continued diversity within the sport at all levels.
A four-year starter and three-year Captain for the Indiana University Women's Lacrosse Club, Lugo played Defense and Midfield. She graduated from Indiana University in 2011 with a B.S. in Sport Marketing & Management.
Lugo currently resides in Chicago, Illinois and works in Customer Service and Sales.
