Zach Shaw is beginning his first season with the Elmhurst University football team. Shaw serves as the team's quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator.
Shaw comes to Elmhurst after spending the past two years as the offensive coordinator at Hiram College. Under Shaw's direction, Hiram nearly doubled its offensive output from 2019 to 2021. The Terriers set a pair of single game records in 2001 and improved statistically from the previous season in first downs, rushing yards, passing yards, total yards, first downs, third and fourth down conversions and rushing and passing touchdowns. Shaw also served as the team's strength and conditioning coordinator.
Prior to his time at Hiram, Shaw spent two years at Nichols College, serving as the team's passing game coordinator, director of football operations and offensive coordinator. In 2019, the Bisons' offense set school records for scoring and passing yardage while scoring 40 touchdowns on the season.
Shaw coached and played professionally overseas for five years. He served as the offensive coordinator and starting quarterback for the Winterthur Warriors in Switzerland in 2018 and was the offensive coordinator and starting quarterback for the Potsdam Royals in Germany in 2016 and 2017. He also played and coached for the Elancourt Templiers in France (2015) and the Sollerod Gold Diggers in Denmark (2013).
He began his coaching career at Mesabi Range College in Minnesota in 2014, working as the team's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks/wide receivers coach. He served as a graduate assistant coach at Wisconsin Lutheran College in 2015-16 working with the running backs.
Shaw played collegiate football at Wisconsin Lutheran College. He was a four-year starter, passing for a school record 6,013 yards and 63 touchdowns in his career. He also holds school records for total offense and touchdowns responsible for (75). He was named the Conference Freshman of the Year in 2009 and earned honorable mention all-conference accolades in 2011. He finished his career ranked second in school history in pass completions (435)
Shaw earned his bachelor's degree from Wisconsin Lutheran and completed a master's degree in organizational leadership from Nichols College.
