Seth Carson is beginning his third season as the Bluejays' defensive coordinator. Carson spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Illinois Wesleyan University before joining the Elmhurst coaching staff prior to the 2019 season.Â
In addition to his defensive coordinator role, Carson also works with the Bluejays' secondary. In 2019, Bryce Gable earned second-team all-conference honors at linebacker while playing under Carson's defensive unit.Â
While at IWU, Carson coached the defensive backs and return specialists while also tracking the team's academic progress throughout the year. He helped the Titans rank 11th in the nation in scoring defense in 2017 and coached a two-time All-American at safety.Â
Prior to arriving at Illinois Wesleyan, Carson spent two seasons as the head football coach of the club team at Robert Morris University-Peoria. He began his coaching career as graduate assistant coach at Robert Morris University-Chicago from 2013-2015. He coached the linebackers and the special teams with the Eagles and helped the team rank first in the nation in rushing defense, seventh in total defense and ninth in scoring defense during the 2014 season.Â
Carson earned his bachelor's degree from Central College in Pella, Iowa in 2013. He played football for the Dutch for four seasons. A graduate of Downers Grove South High School, Carson earned his master's degree from Robert Morris University in 2015.Â
