Pat McAvoy enters 2020 in his second season as Elmhurst's offensive coordinator. He also coaches the Bluejays' offensive line and tight ends.
McAvoy came to Elmhurst after spending the 2018 season as the offensive coordinator at Benedictine University. Under McAvoy’s direction, the Eagles averaged 32.1 points per game over the 2018 season. McAvoy also worked with the offensive line and tight ends at Benedictine.
McAvoy arrived at Benedictine after spending two seasons as the offensive coordinator at St. Norbert College (2016-17). The Green Knights averaged over 30 points per game in his two seasons, including an average of 39.6 points per game during the 2016 season. McAvoy also made coaching stops at the University of Wisconsin-Stout (2014-16).
McAvoy began his coaching career at Northern Illinois University, serving as a graduate assistant coach working with the offensive line and tight ends for the 2012 and 2013 seasons. A graduate of Northern Illinois University, McAvoy played fullback for the Huskies and was part of a MAC Championship team in 2011. The Huskies also won bowl games in 2010 and 2012. McAvoy earned his bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois in 2011 and added a master’s degree in 2013.
