PRINCIPIA, Ill. - The Elmhurst University women's soccer team continued its clean record against Principia College, 6-0, on Friday, Sept. 11. The Bluejays remain undefeated, and add to their shutout streak.
Elmhurst (4-0-0) controlled play throughout the match, finishing with a 35-3 advantage in shots, a 17-2 shots on goal and a 9-1 margin in corner kicks.
The Bluejays opened with a goal two minutes in from Alaina Clark off an assist from Ellie Muscarello. The duo connected again in the 15th minute, with Clark assisting Muscarello to give Elmhurst a 2-0 lead. The Bluejays continued to attack, outshooting Principia (2-2-0) 16-1 going into halftime.
Clark added her second goal in the 51st minute to extend the Bluejays' lead to 3-0. Ailani Zires followed with a goal in the 65th minute off an assist from Maddie Cummings.
Izzy Vargas rounded out the scoring with two goals across a four minute lapse. Laura Garcia assisted Vargas' first goal at 72:22, while Kaya Goclan supplied the assist on her second at 76:33.
Elmhurst's defense limited Principia to three shots throughout the match. Sequoia Ross adds another shutout for the Bluejays, collecting two saves.
