Bluejays Drop on the Road against Augustana

ELMHURST, IL. - The Elmhurst University Women's Lacrosse dropped a tight game 6-4 to Augustana on Saturday, unable to overcome an early deficit.

Augustana opened with three goals before Ashley Kay Sardon got Elmhurst on the board at the 10:51 mark 3-1 deficit. The Bluejays continued momentum in the second period, with back to back goals from Grace Lorkiewicz and Zoe Valdevenito to tie the game 3-3. Augustana answered shortly after to take a 4-3 lead into halftime.

In the third, Augustana added two more goals to extend their advantage 6-3. Elmhurst found one final breakthrough in the fourth period, with Olivia Ingraffia scoring at 13:16, but the Bluejays could not close the gap further.

Elmhurst saw four offensive moments in the close game, with Sardon, Lorkiewicz, Valdevenito, and Ingraffia each finding the back of the net. Lorkiewicz, Valdevenito, and Sardon each recorded a point while also contributing across the field, totaling 11 shots and multiple draw controls.

In goal, Jacq Vanoni put together a strong performance all four quarters, recording 13 saves. Vanoni faced consistent pressure throughout the contest with key stops to keep Elmhurst within reach, anchoring the Bluejay defense

As a team, the Bluejays totaled 16 shots with eight on goal while adding 16 ground balls and nine caused turnovers.

The Bluejays return to conference play on the road at North Central, April 18, at 3:00 pm
