Jays' fourth-quarter rally leads to road win

WOOSTER, Ohio – The Bluejays will return from their trip to Ohio having gone 2-for-2, after Elmhurst rallied late for a 10-6 victory at Wooster (Ohio) on Tuesday afternoon.

The Jays would break the tie late in the match with four unanswered goals in the fourth quarter, from four different players. After Wooster tied the game at 6-6 with a man-up goal early in the fourth, Fischer Son reclaimed the lead less than a minute later. Hunter Hernandez, Eli Spence, and Charlie Ferree all found the back of the net as Elmhurst pulled away to secure the win.

The home team would strike first with the only goal of the first period, but the Jays bounced back in the second, taking their first lead of the day with a pair of man-up goals from Brent Diehl and Hernandez. Landon Davis got one past the goalie for a 3-1 lead, before Wooster scored twice to make it a 4-3 Bluejay lead at the half.

Both teams traded scores in the third quarter, with Ferree and Zain Crumedy answering each time Wooster would pull even. The Scots would tie the game three times in the second half but Elmhurst never trailed before shutting down the Wooster attack for the final 13 minutes to take the win.

Seven different Bluejays would score, with Hernandez, Diehl, and Ferree leading the way with two goals apiece. Ferree also picked up two assists to finish with a match-high four points on the day. Andrew Lacksonen finished with ten saves to go along with his seventh win of the season.

Elmhurst returns to Langhorst Field for their first home match in over two weeks, when they host Albion (Mich.) on Sunday, March 29 beginning at 1:00 p.m.
