Bluejays Stumble on the Road Against Augustana, Keeping Postseason in Sight.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Elmhurst Womens clinched their spot in the upcoming CCIW Tournament, despite a loss at Augustana, 81–56.

Bluejays opened the game from the arch with a three from Natalie Harty. The first period was rounded out with the Bluejays in a 10 point deficit. Elmhurst defense held their own, keeping it scoreless for the back half of the second period. Highlighted by two steals from Anna Kleszynski, and Natalie Robinson going into the third period trailing by 14. Elmhurst rounded out the final quarter going on a shooting streak of five, keeping the gap from widening in the vikings favor with a final score of 81-56.

Kristin Bukata paced the Bluejays offensively with 18 points, adding 2 assists and eight rebounds in 32 minutes of action. Sierra Gibson provided a strong interior presence with nine points and two rebounds, while Natalie Harty added eight points, including two three-pointers, three rebounds, and a steal. 

Anna Kleszynski, and Natalie Robinson were key components throughout the game as well. Kleszynski posted seven total rebounds, and two steals. While Robinson brought light to the Bluejays in key moments with 2 points and two steals.

Jayla White delivered an efficient effort off the bench, scoring eight points on 2-of-2 shooting from the field and 4-of-6 at the free throw line. While Ella Conyers contributed five points and two assists.

As a team, Elmhurst finished 20-of-66 from the field and 13-of-22 from the free throw line. The Bluejays collected 39 rebounds, including 16 offensive boards, and totaled 26 bench points. Elmhurst also recorded 12 fast break points and scored 32 points in the paint. 

The Bluejays move past this game with the post season in mind. With this week's conference games wrapping up, Elmhurst has secured their spot in the CCIW tournament with details to come. Elmhurst returns to the court honoring their seniors this Saturday, at R.A. Faganel Hall with a 2:00 p.m. tip off against North Park.
