Bluejays’ Fourth-Quarter Surge Comes Up Short in 88–83 Battle at Carroll

WAUKESHA, Wis.—Elmhurst women's basketball put together a spirited late push on Saturday afternoon but ultimately fell 88–83 to Carroll (WI) in a fast-paced, high-scoring nonconference contest. The Bluejays erupted for 14 fourth-quarter field goals and seven three-pointers in the final period, trimming a double-digit deficit to one possession before time expired.

Elmhurst was led by Kristin Bukata, who delivered a complete floor game with 20 points, 11 assists, and eight rebounds while logging 36 minutes. Her playmaking fueled the offense throughout and kept the Bluejays within reach during a back-and-forth second half. Natalie Harty added 17 points, connecting on five three-pointers, and chipped in three assists and a steal while playing the full 40 minutes.

Inside, Natalie Robinson was efficient and physical, scoring 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting and pulling down six rebounds. Maia Lewers contributed five points and three rebounds, while Anna Kleszynski worked the glass for nine rebounds and added four points.

The story of the afternoon for Elmhurst came off the bench. Ella Conyers delivered a breakout performance, pouring in 20 points in just 14 minutes while knocking down six three-pointers on nine attempts. Her shooting sparked the fourth-quarter rally and ignited the Bluejays' best offensive stretch of the game. Diellza DalipiSierra Gibson, and Jacy Fierst combined to add six points and key minutes, as Elmhurst finished with 26 bench points.

As a team, Elmhurst shot 44.4 percent from the field and 46.2 percent from three-point range, hitting 12 triples on the afternoon. The Bluejays also scored 38 points in the paint and added 16 fast-break points, showing balance across the floor. Elmhurst gaining momentum in the fourth quarter 37–14, shooting 63.6 percent from the field and 7-of-11 from beyond the arc in the final 10 minutes.

Carroll countered with strong interior play and depth, finishing with 46 points in the paint and 47 bench points to help maintain its edge. Despite the late surge, the Bluejays were unable to overcome the early deficit.

Though the result did not go Elmhurst's way, the performance highlighted the Bluejays' offensive firepower, depth, and resilience, particularly in the closing quarter, as they continue to build momentum moving forward.
