Bluejays Edge Augustana in Tight Defensive Battle

ELMHURST, Ill. — Elmhurst women's basketball earned a hard-fought 64–61 victory over Augustana (Ill.) on Saturday afternoon, grinding out a win in a game that featured six ties and two lead changes. The Bluejays leaned on interior efficiency, rebounding, and timely defensive plays to secure the three-point decision.

Elmhurst received balanced scoring across the lineup, led by Maia Lewers and Natalie Robinson, who finished with 15 points apiece. Lewers went 7-of-13 from the field while adding five assists and playing 38 minutes, providing steady control in a back-and-forth contest. Robinson was nearly flawless offensively, shooting 7-of-8 from the floor while contributing five rebounds, two blocks, and two steals to anchor the Bluejay defense.

Anna Kleszynski delivered a strong performance on the glass, pulling down a game-high 14 rebounds while adding 11 points. Her work inside helped Elmhurst generate second-chance opportunities and limit Augustana's offensive possessions. Kristin Bukata added 10 points and six assists while playing all 40 minutes, helping guide the Bluejays through multiple momentum swings.

Natalie Harty chipped in nine points and made her presence felt defensively with three steals and a block, while Diellza Dalipi provided a spark off the bench with four points on perfect shooting and four rebounds in limited minutes.

Elmhurst shot 44.6 percent from the field and controlled the paint, outscoring Augustana 40–32 inside. The Bluejays also forced 19 Augustana turnovers and converted those into 15 points, a key factor in a tightly contested matchup.

Augustana was led by Cali Papez, who posted 21 points and 14 rebounds, but Elmhurst's collective defensive effort limited the Vikings' perimeter production and held them to 39.7 percent shooting overall.

With the win, Elmhurst showcased its toughness and composure in a close conference-style game, relying on balanced contributions and defensive execution down the stretch to close out the victory.
