MADISON, Wis. - The Elmhurst University women's volleyball team dropped a three-set road contest at Edgewood College, falling 25-17, 25-18, 25-20 on Wednesday night at the Todd Wehr Edgedome.
Elmhurst (0-4) battled throughout but was unable to overcome Edgewood's efficient attack, as the Eagles hit .227 with 33 kills while also finishing with 11 total blocks.
The Bluejays collected 29 kills in the match, led by Paige Belfield with eight to go with six digs and a block. Antriana Larkou and Keely Larson each added six kills, while Blair Johnson chipped in five. Setter Freddie Temple paced the offense with 20 assists and added six digs.
Defensively, Alexis Casey anchored the back row with 18 digs, and Elmhurst totaled 44 digs as a team. At the net, the Bluejays registered four team blocks, highlighted by Maggie Cross with one solo and one block assist.
The Bluejays return to action this Friday, September 5, kicking off the UW-Whitewater Invitational against Berry College at 7:00 p.m. in Whitewater, Wis.
