Bluejays Record Eighth Shutout in 3-0 Win over Beloit

RECAP

ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst University women's soccer team took a commanding 3-0 victory over Beloit College on Tuesday night at Langhorst Field. The Bluejays improved to 8-1-1 on the season, continuing their best start in program history.

Elmhurst dominated possession and chances from the start, piling up 23 first-half shots. After multiple saves from Beloit goalkeeper Sophia Dietz, the Bluejays finally broke through in the 32nd minute. Lauren Nevins converted a penalty kick to give Elmhurst a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

The Bluejays put the match away in the second half with two quick strikes. In the 69th minute, Maddie Cummings slipped a pass to Courtney Conlon, who buried the shot for a 2-0 cushion. Just five minutes later, MaiLei Garcia set up Haley Jeske, who finished from long range to make it 3-0.

Elmhurst's attack was relentless, finishing with 36 shots, including 21 on frame. Kelli Coughlin led all players with seven attempts, four on goal, while Nevins registered six shots and three on target. Conlon and Jeske each added a goal, with Cummings and Garcia providing assists. Grace Bray, Katelyn Guolla, and Nora Simon also contributed shots on goal.

Defensively, the Bluejays limited Beloit to just six total shots and three on target. Starting goalkeeper Erin Fitzharris stopped all three in 77 minutes of work before giving way to Megan Kleve and Sequoia Ross to close out the combined shutout. The trio benefited from a backline that allowed few clear chances.

Beloit's goalkeepers combined for 18 saves, keeping the margin from growing even wider. The Buccaneers also picked up a yellow card in the first half, while Elmhurst's Angie Lopez was booked shortly after.
