Jays Defeat Olivet in Road Match

RECAP

OLIVET, Mich. - The Elmhurst University women's soccer team extended its strong start to the season with a 3-0 road victory at the University of Olivet on Saturday afternoon. The Bluejays dominated from start to finish, scoring all three goals in the second half while outshooting the Comets 30-3.

After a scoreless opening 45 minutes despite 12 Elmhurst shots and five corner kicks, the breakthrough came early in the second half. In the 49th minute, Ellie Muscarello netted her first goal of the season off a feed from Lauren Nevins to give the Bluejays the lead. Nevins then doubled the advantage in the 80th minute, calmly converting a penalty kick for her team-leading sixth goal of the year. Elmhurst capped the scoring in the closing minutes when Martyna Bogaczewicz finished in the 89th minute, assisted by MaiLei Garcia, to seal the 3-0 result.

Elmhurst's attack peppered the University of Olivet net with 19 shots on goal. Nevins led the way with four total shots, three on frame, to go with her goal and assist. Muscarello and Bogaczewicz each added a goal, while Garcia, Grace Bray, Maddie Cummings, Katelyn Guolla, Aubrey Pasquale, and others contributed to the relentless pressure.

Defensively, the Bluejays allowed only two shots on goal. Goalkeeper Erin Fitzharris needed just two saves across 90 minutes to secure the shutout, her fourth of the season. Elmhurst committed eight fouls but kept composure throughout, while the Comets' keeper Viveca Krolczyk finished with 16 saves to keep the margin from growing larger.

With the win, Elmhurst improved to 7-1-1 on the season, while the University of Olivet dropped to 2-6-0.
