Volleyball Extends Streak to Three with Sweeps of Lake Forest, Benedictine

RECAP

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Elmhurst volleyball put together a dominant day at the Lake Forest Triangular, sweeping both of its matches to extend its win streak to three. The Bluejays rolled past Benedictine 3–0 (25–14, 25–15, 25–23) before closing with another sweep over host Lake Forest 3–0 (25–18, 25–22, 25–17) on Saturday.

In the opener against Benedictine, Elmhurst's offense clicked from the start. Blair Johnson powered the attack with 12 kills on .611 hitting and added six service aces for a match-high 18 points. Ashley Clardy chipped in 11 kills, while Keely Larson added two aces and two kills. Setter Freddie Temple dished out 37 assists and libero Alexis Casey anchored the defense with 16 digs. Elmhurst hit .344 as a team and tallied 11 aces, pulling away in the first two sets before holding off a late push by Benedictine in the third.

The Bluejays carried that momentum into the second match against Lake Forest. Larson led the way with a standout .647 hitting percentage, finishing with 13 kills and two blocks for 15 points. Paige Belfield was efficient with eight kills on .467 hitting, while Johnson added five kills, two aces, and a block. Temple distributed 22 assists and three aces, while Casey collected 11 digs. Elmhurst served tough again, racking up nine aces, and closed out each set with key scoring runs to complete the sweep.

Across the two matches, Elmhurst combined for 74 kills and 20 service aces while limiting opponents to just .121 hitting. The Bluejays improved to 4–7 on the season, closing out the weekend with three consecutive sweeps dating back to Friday's win over Rhodes.
