NAPERVILLE - The Elmhurst University baseball team was recognized with a pair of postseason honors as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its 2025 All-Conference teams. First baseman Rock Smith was named to the All-CCIW Second Team, while catcher Erik Malott earned the CCIW RESPECT Award for exemplifying sportsmanship, integrity, and leadership on and off the field.
Smith capped off a stellar junior campaign by ranking among the league's best hitters, finishing with a .361 batting average and a 1.077 OPS while starting all 40 games at first base. His offensive output included 56 hits, 8 doubles, 3 triples, and 8 home runs to go along with 43 RBIs and a .606 slugging percentage, placing him fourth in the conference in slugging and second in OPS. He also ranked top-10 in the CCIW in batting average, on-base percentage (.471), hits, and runs batted in. Defensively, Smith was a steady presence at first, posting a .983 fielding percentage across 350 chances and helping turn 17 double plays.
Malott, a senior catcher, was recognized with the RESPECT Award for his commitment to character, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the season. Behind the plate, Malott was a durable and dependable presence, appearing in 39 games and finishing with a .991 fielding percentage. He threw out 15 would-be base stealers—tied for third most in the conference—and provided steady leadership for the Elmhurst pitching staff.
