ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst University men's tennis team continued its conference slate on Tuesday afternoon, taking on a strong Wheaton squad at the Lester Brune Tennis Courts, falling 7-0.
In doubles play, Emiliano Montenegro-Galarza and Charalampos Vasilopoulos faced a talented No. 1 pairing from Wheaton, ultimately falling 6-0, while Ioannis Varsamis and Caden Sultzbaugh fought hard in a 6-2 decision at No. 2. Adrian Songco and Isaac Puchalla rounded out doubles play at the third position, battling in a 6-0 contest.
Elmhurst showed continued effort and hustle in singles action. Montenegro-Galarza put together a solid second set at No. 1 singles, picking up two games against Tim Steiner. Sultzbaugh opened strong with a two-game effort in the first set at No. 5 singles, while Isaac Puchalla fought through long rallies at No. 6, pushing Samuel Schutz in both sets and picking up games in each.
