Bluejays Fall to Thunder

WHEATON, Ill. - The Elmhurst University women's basketball team traveled to Wheaton College to close out their conference series for the season. 

The Bluejays (12-8, 4-8 CCIW) were led by Sierra Gibson as she scored 18 points while adding three rebounds and three steals. Cierra Steemer also added 14 points with nine rebounds, four blocks, three assists and two steals. 

The Thunder (11-9, 6-5 CCIW) were led by Annika Richardson with 36 points, going 5 of 9 from behind the arc, with 12 rebounds three rebounds, steals and one block. 

First quarter had some thrilling action as both teams would go back and forth with ultimately the Thunder leading 22-21 at the end of the first. In the Second quarter, the Bluejays would start off with an 8-0 run and use that momentum to take a five point lead into halftime, 41-36. The Third quarter was a low scoring affair with the Thunder dwindling the Bluejays lead down to one point at the end of the Third, 52-51. In the Fourth quarter it was all Thunder as they would take the lead right away in the fourth and never look back as they would win 79-67.

The Bluejays will look to bounce back as they host Millikin University on Wednesday, Feb. 12th at 7:00pm
