ANGOLA, Ind. — The Elmhurst University women's basketball team went toe-to-toe with a high-powered Trine squad on Saturday afternoon but ultimately fell 81–62 in a competitive nonconference matchup. The Bluejays stayed within reach for much of the contest, answering multiple Trine runs behind strong guard play, rebounding efforts, and efficient perimeter shooting.
Kristin Bukata led Elmhurst with a strong all-around performance, scoring a game-high 20 points while playing 39 minutes. She was perfect at the free-throw line, going 8-for-8, and added eight assists, three rebounds, and two blocks while controlling tempo against Trine's pressure defense.
Anna Kleszynski provided a major scoring punch from the perimeter, finishing with 18 points and knocking down five three-pointers. She also pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds and recorded four steals, consistently impacting the game on both ends of the floor. Her shooting helped Elmhurst stay connected through the first three quarters as the game featured four ties and two lead changes.
Natalie Harty added 12 points while attacking the basket and converting all four of her free-throw attempts. Maia Lewers chipped in six points and three rebounds, while Natalie Robinson contributed five rebounds and strong interior defense against a Trine team that finished with 34 points in the paint.
Elmhurst shot 50 percent from the field in the opening quarter and kept pace early behind efficient ball movement and perimeter shooting. The Bluejays matched Trine on the glass for long stretches and finished with nine second-chance points, but Trine's hot shooting—particularly from beyond the arc—proved difficult to overcome.
Off the bench, Diellza Dalipi and Sierra Gibson each provided energy and physicality in limited minutes as Elmhurst worked through its rotation. The Bluejays forced 18 turnovers and turned them into 13 points, continuing to compete defensively throughout the game.
Despite the final score, Elmhurst showed balance, toughness, and composure against a deep Trine lineup. The performance highlighted strong leadership from the backcourt and continued growth from the Bluejays as they move forward through a demanding stretch of the schedule.
