Bluejays Rally Behind Balanced Effort to Top Adrian in Defense

Results

ELMHURST, Ill.—Elmhurst women's basketball responded with resilience and strong all-around play on Wednesday night, earning a 60–54 victory over Adrian College at R.A. Faganel Hall. In a game defined by physical defense, rebounding battles, and timely execution, the Bluejays pulled away late in the fourth quarter to improve their record.

Elmhurst's defensive intensity set the tone early, holding Adrian to just 14 points in the first quarter and consistently disrupting the Bulldogs' rhythm throughout the night. The Bluejays forced turnovers at key moments and limited second-chance scoring, allowing Elmhurst to stay within striking distance even when shots weren't falling.

Kristin Bukata led a steady and efficient Elmhurst attack with 18 points while also directing the offense with poise and facilitating fast-break opportunities. Natalie Robinson complemented the effort with 14 points and strong rebounding at 6 for the game, particularly on the defensive glass where her effort helped generate extra possessions. Natalie Harty provided perimeter scoring and spacing with 12 points—knocking down multiple threes—and played a key role in keeping Elmhurst in front throughout the second half.

The Bluejays also dominated the rebounding battle inside, with Anna Kleszynski pulling down a team-high 15 rebounds while adding 10 points and battling physically against a tough Adrian frontcourt. That rebounding edge helped Elmhurst control tempo and limit the Bulldogs' second-chance opportunities in the paint.

Elmhurst's second-half defense tightened further, holding Adrian to just 7 points in the third quarter and then outscoring the visitors by key buckets in the final period. While Elmhurst's bench provided depth and energy, the starters' ability to defend, rebound, and make clutch plays down the stretch proved decisive in the close contest.

With balanced contributions across the stat sheet—rebounds, defense, ball security, and efficient scoring—the Bluejays exhibited the grit and cohesion that have become hallmarks of their play. Elmhurst's victory demonstrated the team's ability to grind out wins in physical games and respond under pressure as conference battles continue.
