The Elmhurst University women's soccer team battled Millikin University to a 1-1 draw on Saturday evening at Langhorst Field, extending its conference unbeaten streak to two matches.
After a scoreless first half, Elmhurst (9-2-2, 1-1-1 CCIW) broke through early in the second. In the 51st minute, Lauren Nevins netted her 10th goal of the season, finishing from close range to give the Bluejays a 1-0 lead. The goal capped a strong stretch of pressure that included shots from Ellie Muscarello, Grace Bray, and Emily Herlihy.
Millikin (3-6-3, 0-1-1 CCIW) found the equalizer in the final seconds. With time expiring, Payton Dominguez scored with 28 seconds left in the game to level the score at 1-1, preventing an Elmhurst victory.
The Bluejays controlled the pace for most of the match, out shooting Millikin 18-11 and holding a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal. Elmhurst also earned seven corner kicks, including four in the second half, while keeping sustained pressure in the attacking third.
Nevins led Elmhurst with four total shots, while Bray added three attempts and Herlihy finished with two. Goalkeeper Erin Fitzharris recorded four saves, including three in the opening half, to help the Bluejays secure the result.
Elmhurst will continue CCIW play on Wednesday, traveling to North Park University.
