Bluejays Show Grit in Tight Contest at North Park

Results

The Elmhurst University women's soccer team came up short in a 2-0 road loss to North Park University on Wednesday night in Chicago, but the Bluejays battled throughout in a competitive CCIW matchup.

Elmhurst (9-3-2, 1-2-1 CCIW) created several quality scoring opportunities, including a penalty kick in the 66th minute, but couldn't find the finishing touch. Lauren Nevins led the Bluejays' attack with one shot on goal and a penalty attempt, while Ellie Muscarello and Izzy Vargas each added shots on target.

After a scoreless first half, the Bluejays continued to stay organized defensively behind strong play from goalkeeper Erin Fitzharris, who made five saves against 25 total North Park shots. Despite North Park breaking through with goals in the 58th and 78th minutes, Fitzharris and the Elmhurst back line kept the Vikings off the board for most of the night, limiting them to just seven shots on goal.

Elmhurst finished with five total shots, three on frame, and earned four corner kicks—two in each half—while keeping the contest within reach until the final whistle. Courtney Conlon and Grace Bray anchored the midfield and back line with steady defensive work across 80-plus minutes of action.

The Bluejays travel to Naperville looking for a rebound, playing North Central College, October 11th.
