Kenosha, Wis. - The Elmhurst University Women's basketball team headed to Carthage College on Wedensday (Jan. 8th) for another conference game.
Bluejays (9-4, 1-4 CCIW), were led by
Sierra Gibson with 19 points while coming off the bench, along with four rebounds, two assists and steals.
Cierra Steemer would add 16 points with nine rebounds, and one assisst, steal and block. Kirstin Bukata would add 13 points of her own with four rebounds and steal, with three assists.
Firebirds (11-2, 3-1 CCIW), were led by Marianna Morrissey with 17 points, five rebounds, four steals, and two assist. Emma Carlson would record a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds along with an assist, block and steal.
The first quarter was close while the Firebirds would score six straight points to open up the game. After that the Bluejays would end the first quarter on a 16-4 run to close out the first quarter down 20-21. The second quarter would follow suit as the Firebirds would once again start off strong and the Bluejays would heat up at the end of the half to make it a 37-37 game at halftime.
The third quarter would be more back and forth as the Firebirds would take a 55-52 lead over the Bluejays. The fourth quater was a disaster for the Bluejays as they only managed to score six points in the fourth while the Firebirds were able to score 13 of their own to win 68-58.
