ELMHURST, Ill. -Â Elmhurst University Athletics has announced the resignation of
Mike Murray as head football coach. Murray has resigned his position at Elmhurst to pursue another coaching position to be announced at a later date.
"We would like to thank Coach Murray for what he has done here at Elmhurst. In just two seasons, he provided strong leadership and mentorship for our program, and developed a solid foundation for the future of Elmhurst football. We greatly appreciate his efforts, and wish Coach Murray the very best in his future endeavors" said Director of Athletics Glen Brittich, Ed.D.
"I would like to thank President VanAken, Dr. Riordan, Director of Athletics Dr. Brittich, and the entire Elmhurst University community for the opportunity to be a part of Elmhurst University, the athletic department, and the football program. The support from the administration, faculty and alumni has been tremendous" Murray said. "I also want to thank our coaches for all of the hard work, effort, energy, and passion that they provided on a daily basis. They made everyday a great and rewarding experience for me and our team. Finally, I would like to thank our players and their families for building the start of a great foundation to move Elmhurst Football forward in the future. This has been a great experience for our entire family. It has been an honor to be here."
Elmhurst finished the 2024 season with a 3-7 overall record and a 3-6 mark in CCIW action, both the most wins since the 2016 season. In his first season with the Jays in 2023, Murray led the team to a 2-8 overall record with a season-opening non-conference victory over Adrian, the first non-conference win for the program since 2018.
