ELMHURST, Ill. -Â The Elmhurst University women's soccer team dominated the night, taking down Cornell College 2-0 Thursday evening at Langhorst Field.
Elmhurst (5-4-2) fired 38 shots in the match (12 on goal), compared to two and none on goal for the visiting Rams (1-7).
Lauren Nevins kicked off the scoring quickly in the first half, finding a perfect through-ball from
Emily Herlihy and knocking it in the back of the net in the seventh minute for a 1-0 lead.
The Bluejays continued to pepper shots throughout the match, looking to extend their lead, while also forcing the ball away from Cornell throughout the match. Finally, in the 81st minute, the Jays found the back of the net again after a
Camila Rubio pass into the box found a bounding
Kendal Freischlag, extending the lead to two. Elmhurst would stay strong defensively, and hold on for the 2-0 win.Â
