FOND DU LAC, Wis. - The Elmhurst University baseball team fell, 14-8, to Marian University Thursday evening in the Bluejays' non-conference finale.
Elmhurst (9-25) took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning and stuck it close with the home team, but the bats of the Sabres (19-13) were ultimately too hot for the Jays to handle, giving up 14 runs on 14 hits and four Bluejay errors.
Freddie March and
John Swiderek provided three RBI's each to go along with a pair of hits, with March sending a two-run home run over the left field fence, while
Zach Kolb knocked in two runs, including a two-run home run of his own. On the mound,
Charlie Smith took the loss pitching two innings and giving up six runs (four earned).
UP NEXT
Elmhurst will head back home for a 2:00 p.m. first pitch against Millikin University on Sunday, April 28. The game will also serve as senior day, where nine seniors will be honored prior to the game.
