WAUKESHA, Wis. - The Elmhurst University softball team earned their first CCIW victory of the season Saturday afternoon, splitting a doubleheader with Carroll University.
Elmhurst (10-18, 1-7 CCIW) was handled in the opener, 8-0 in five innings, but bounced back to earn a 2-1 victory over the Pioneers (10-18, 4-6 CCIW).
In game two, the Bluejays got the bats going early in the second, loading the bases on a pair of hits and a walk before
Bailey Hodel drew a bases-loaded walk, putting Elmhurst up, 1-0.
Brenna Morley followed Hodel with an RBI single up the middle to extend the lead, 2-0 in favor of Elmhurst.
Ali Mockenhaupt earned the win in game two, working out of a jam in the third inning only allowing one run to cross the plate, keeping the Pioneers at bay the remainder of the game to earn her third win of the season.Â

Elmhurst returns home to take on Millikin University in a doubleheader on Sunday, April 21 beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Salt Creek Park.
