CLERMONT, Fla. -Â The Elmhurst University softball team fell twice on day two of The Spring Games Wednesday morning.
Elmhurst (3-5) narrowly fell to Carleton College, 1-3, and followed with a 2-5 defeat to Western New England.
Against Carleton,
Chiara O'Leary provided the lone RBI in the contest for the Bluejays, also pitching in the circle but taking the loss to drop to 1-2 on the season. As a team, Elmhurst tallied just four hits against Carleton.
In game two against Western New England, the Bluejays fell behind early, trailing 5-0 after two innings. O'Leary again provided a spark with an RBI, and teammate
Ali Mockenhaupt provided the other RBI, a single in the third inning that scored Elmhurst's second and last run of the game. Despite the game two loss,
Gianna Amundsen went 2-for-3 with a double while also pitching five strong innings in relief, giving up just two hits and two runs while adding three strikeouts.
UP NEXT
The Bluejays are set for another doubleheader in the sunshine state tomorrow, facing off against Wellesley College at 8:15 a.m. CT and taking on Washington and Jefferson College at 10:30 a.m. CT in Clermont, Fla.
