ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst University women's lacrosse team fell, 8-18, to Marian University Monday evening at Langhorst Field.
The Bluejays kept it close with the Sabres, heading into the half with a 7-6 advantage over the visitors. However, Marian would score seven unanswered goals in the third period and add another five in the fourth compared to Elmhurst's one in the final period to fall by ten at home.
Gracie Eastman led Elmhurst (1-2) with a trio of goals, while 
Bella Roque and 
Andrea Murtland scored two goals each with 
Kendall Schieppe rounding out the scoring for the Bluejays while also adding three caused turnovers. Paige Palmero added six draw controls in the contest, while 
Mikaela Armstrong picked up a team-high three ground balls.
Marian (1-5) had a huge offensive output from Nicole Stachon, who tallied 12 total points on eight goals and four assists, while Emma Heide forced a game-high four turnovers.
Marian would get the scoring started early in the first, but a pair of goals from Eastman and Roque from the free position gave Elmhurst their first lead of the game, 2-1. Marian would respond with a pair of goals of their own to again retake the lead, but Murland would respond with 3:45 left in the first to knot the game at three each following one quarter of play.
Both teams would trade goals in the first five minutes of the second period before Marian scored two to take a 6-4 lead with 4:26 left until the break. Eastman and Murtland would again respond with a pair of free position goals to knot the game at six, and Roque would score on a woman-up opportunity with six seconds left in the half to give Elmhurst a 7-6 advantage with two quarters remaining.
Marian would go on to score seven in the third, and outscore Elmhurst 12-1 in the final two periods to handle Elmhurst by a score of 8-18.

Elmhurst will wrap up their homestand this Thursday, March 14, with a matchup against Cornell College at 7:00 p.m.
