NAPERVILLE, Ill. -Â The Elmhurst University football team fell to the No. 1 North Central College Cardinals, 70-7, Saturday afternoon on the road.
The Bluejays fell to 2-7 overall and 2-6 in the CCIW with their fifth-straight loss, while the top-ranked Cardinals improved to 9-0 and 8-0 in the CCIW, clinching at least a share of the conference title with the win.
NCC showed their dominance across all phases of the game, keeping Elmhurst to seven points defensively and generating 708 yards of total offense to Elmhurst's 312 total yards.
Elmhurst's offense was led by
John Odom, who completed 7-of-14 passes for 145 yards and a touchdown pass, while
Taveon Porter led on the ground with 102 yards on 16 rushes, including a 55-yard run in the game.
Jacob Cockrell led with three receptions for 126 yards and one touchdown.
On the defensive side,
Jace Zeffiro had 13 total tackles (nine solo) with 3.5 tackles-for-loss totaling 13 yards. Connor DeVries and
Antonio Mayo each had seven solo tackles, while
Etor Agbenya had 1.5 TFL's. Punter
Giovanni Orestano had seven punts for 234 yards.
