ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst University women's volleyball team fell to the seventh-ranked Warhawks of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in three sets Wednesday evening.
The match marked the final contest for the Bluejay women's volleyball team, as the team finished the season with a 14-12 overall record, and a 2-6 mark in CCIW action. UW-Whitewater improved to 22-3 overall with the sweep. UWW took all three sets by scores of 25-18, 25-21, and 25-18.
The Warhawks showed their firepower on the offensive side while also defending their court with 12 blocks on the night. Elmhurst played the nationally-ranked Warhawks tough, thriving at the service line with tough serves putting the visitors out of system.
The Bluejays honored nine seniors as a part of the senior night celebrations Wednesday night, and all nine seniors saw time in action on the court. Seniors
Jada Wiley and
Elise Rossing led Elmhurst with eight and six kills, respectively, while fellow senior Meredith Rowe tallied four kills.
Kali Phillips (four), and
Ally Severino (1) also had kills in their final match as a Bluejay. Senior setters
Alexa Bueser and
Kellyn Kennedy shared assists, with Bueser tallying four and Kennedy with a team-high 19, while fellow senior setter
Alli Schwartz had three assists and three digs. Senior
Payton Ceh had five digs in her finale at Elmhurst.
