Bluejays Drop Lions for Second-Straight Victory

RECAP

ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst University men's basketball team defeated the Mount St. Joseph University Lions, 69-56, on Saturday (Nov. 16) evening inside R.A. Faganel Hall.

The Bluejays won their second-straight game to improve to 2-1 on the season, while MSJ fell to 2-2 overall.

Elmhurst used a strong defensive effort in the opening half to stifle the Lions and prevent an away-team victory despite a valiant effort late in the game. The Bluejays again led wire-to-wire, allowing only six baskets in the first half.

It was a balanced offensive effort in their second-straight wire-to-wire victory, with five Bluejays hitting double-digit point totals. Leading the way in points were Sebastian Blachut and EJ Marshall, each with 13 points, while Tagen Pearson and Aidyn Boone each had 11 points and Dominic Trelenberg added 10 points. Jaiden Malichi tallied a team-high eight rebounds, while Trelenberg also recorded five assists. Freshman Vinnie Adjahoungbeta contributed with a pair of blocks and steals.
