ELMHURST, Ill. -Â The Elmhurst University football team fell, 10-49, to Washington University in St. Louis Saturday afternoon at Langhorst Field.
Elmhurst drops to 2-4 overall on the season, and 2-3 in CCIW play, while WashU improves to 5-1 overall and 4-1 in league play.
The Bears' rushing attack overpowered the Elmhurst defense on the afternoon, with the Bears picking up 250 yards on the ground and 412 yards of offense. The Bears jumped out to a 35-3 halftime lead, adding touchdowns in the third and the fourth to finalize a 49-10 win.
For the Bluejays,
John Odom went 11-for-20 through the air, while backup
Jack Leons went 5-for-10 with a touchdown pass in the fourth quarter. On the ground,
Darius Lane led the way with 44 yards on the ground.
Defensively,
Charles Scott led the way for Elmhurst with 13 tackles and an interception, while
Talyn West had nine tackles and an interception.
Etor Agbenya recorded a sack and eight total tackles, also forcing a fumble, while
Chris Reaves and
Justin Harris each recorded a tackle-for-loss.Â
