ELMHURST, Ill. -Â The Elmhurst University women's volleyball team took down Carroll, 3-1, Friday evening inside R.A. Faganel Hall.
Elmhurst (12-8, 2-4 CCIW) overpowered their opponents on the offensive end, tallying 45 kills to Carroll's 26, while also serving the advantage with eight aces, in their annual Pink Out match.
Carroll (18-10, 1-3 CCIW) hit -.050 in the match, committing 32 attacking errors.
Blair Johnson led all attackers with 10 kills on the evening, while
Elise Rossing had nine attacks for the Bluejays.
Jada Wiley tallied eight kills and a team-high 13 digs, while
Keely Larson added four total blocks and five kills. Elmhurst tallied 11 blocks overall in the contest.
It was all Elmhurst in the first set, with 13 team kills to just one error resulting in a dominant 25-12 victory. The Pioneers were able to take advantage of a few miscues from the Jays, taking set two, 25-20, to even the match at one set each.
With multiple ties and lead changes throughout the third, the Bluejays were able to grind out a set three win thanks to a kill from
Alexa Bueser and a forced error from Carroll, with Elmhurst taking the third, 25-23. From there, with Wiley serving, the Bluejays used a 11-2 run to open a 22-12 lead late in the fourth, with the final score being 25-13 and giving the Bluejays the four-set victory.
